Our association with Palazzoli Group has provided us access to high quality design and manufacture and has considerably broadened Lewden’s product offer to its UK and export customers. Lewden and Palazzoli offer products for many construction, industrial, marine, transportation, and hazardous area applications.

Lewden has also developed an expertise in supplying electrical distribution soluitons to places where electricity does not exist! Over the last 15 years Lewden has been a significant supplier to the MOD and its Tier 1 suppliers, providing electrical distribution to the armed forces personnel involved in various theatres of operation, including Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Lewden designed and manufactured systems have been providing electricity to the tented villages in these challenging environments.

Lewden has been innovative throughout its life introducing many unique and award winning electrical solutions, search out Ceiling Maestro, Split Line, T Line, and the widely specified range of Die-cast Plugs, Sockets and Switches, with the industry acknowledged standard PD prefix.

Operations

Lewden distributes a wide range of power distribution and LED lighting products from its head office located in Braintree, Essex, and its distribution facility in Irvine, North Ayrshire. With over 2500 SKUs available for a next day delivery from our 4000m² warehouse, we can offer a fast and reliable service to installation contractors, OEM’s and end users. Our Lewden Platinum wholesaler branches ensure guaranteed availability of our products.

We also operate unrivalled technical support, which makes available product experts with practical installation experience to help both our wholesaler customers as well as end users.

History

Established in 1946 by the founders Mr Lewis and Mr Denfield, Lewden Metal Products as it was then known, developed an expertise in the metal die-casting and machining of products for the electrical and components industry. Other early products included door furnishings, motor industry components and lighting. This included the still unique and award winning “Ceiling Maestro”, which continues to provids a solution for easy and flexible lighting installation today.

In the 1970’s the new European Standard IEC 60309 for Plugs and Connectors replaced the existing BS4343 British Standard. In response, Lewden designed an innovative range of plastic moulded plugs, connectors and Switches to enhance the already well established die-cast rang. This new “Titan” range of products soon became the preferred choice of the electrical contractor, establishing Lewden as the market leader.

The need for continuous product development and the drive for value in a global market motivated Lewden in 2006 to partner with Palazzoli, a well-established Italian electrical products manufacturer. With over a hundred years of industrial excellence as a manufacturer of electrical products, Palazzoli has a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Brescia, Northern Italy boasting the latest technology and innovation in developing quality engineered products.

Palazzoli’s Test Laboratory is authorised by IMQ-IECEE to operate under the WMT (Witnessed Manufacturer’s Testing) regime which means that it can carry out tests which are valid for the purposes of product certification, under the supervision of the IMQ inspectors. Therefore, Palazzoli can execute tests in its own in-house laboratory that speeds up the product development activities, offering to the end users a further guarantee of quality and efficient service.
